Starting us off is a very basic peanut butter dog treat recipe. It contains all the basics and nothing more. Easy to make, and delicious for your dog.
Ingredients (for ~3 dozen treats)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- ½ cup of peanut butter
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ tsps of baking powder
- 1 cup of water
Quick instructions
Heat oven to 375F. Combine all the ingredients to make your dough. Roll out fist size balls of the dough. Then Cut out your treats into the shape you want. Throw them in the oven for 20 minutes, remove them, then let them sit to cool before giving them to your dog.

Step #1 – Combine All Your Ingredients into a large bowl to make dough.
Step #2 – Place some flour on the counter top where you will be rolling your dough.
Step #3 – Next, grab some dough to make a fist sized ball. Then roll it up into a ball.
Step #4 – Take your dough roller and roll it out to roughly a quarter inch of thickness.

In our image above we opted for the classic round cookie look but you can shape these anyway you’d like. We’ve also found that kids are suspicious of eating cookies shaped like dog food so even though these cookies were made for dogs they can be given to kids too!
Ingredients (for ~2 dozen)
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour see note below for substitutions
- 1 egg
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons honey
For the Frosting
- ⅓ cup cornstarch can also use potato starch or arrowroot powder
- 2 Tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 3-4 tablespoons hot water
Quick Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350F. Combine all ingredients to make dough. Roll out dough to ½ inch thickness and cut out your treat shape. Bake for 15-20mintues then let cool.
For your frosting, combine peanut butter and honey (in a microwavable container) in the microwave for 15 seconds then stir. Repeat until melted. Then add cornstarch. Add small portions of water until you have the thickness you desire.
Add frosting to cookies.
