The 3 Best Homemade Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipes
1.) Pumpkin Cinnamon Homemade Dog Treats
Prep Time = 15 minutes, Cook Time = 30 minutes, Total Time = 45 minutes
For our first recipe we have a classic combination using pumpkin and cinnamon! This is definitely the most basic pumpkin dog treat on the list.
Ingredients (for ~20 treats)
- 1/2 cup of pureed pumpkin (canned or fresh)
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, softened
- 4 tablespoons of water, plus more if needed
- 2 cups of whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 egg
Quick instructions
Heat oven to 350F. Combine all the ingredients to make your sticky dough. Take large balls of dough and roll them out to ¼ inch of thickness. Then cut out your treats into the shapes you want. Throw them in the oven for 30 minutes, remove them, then let them sit to cool before giving them to your dog.
Detailed Instructions
Step #1 – Pre-heat oven to 350F.
Step #2 – Mix the pumpkin, coconut oil, and water together in a large bowl.
Step #3 – Then mix in the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder. Start mixing and then stir in the egg.
Step #5 – Continue to stir until it’s combined. Feel free to add a touch more water in order to get all of the mixture into one solid, sticky ball.
Step #6 – Once done, roll the dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick.
Step #7 – Using a cookie cutter (or your hands), cut out treats. These can be as small or as large as you want them (depending on the size of your dogs)
Step #8 – Place prepared treats on a baking sheet and bake for ~30 minutes (depending on size) or until dough has hardened.
Step #9 – Let cool and enjoy your pup’s excitement!
*Important Note: If you don’t cook these treats until they’re totally dry and hard (like a traditional dog biscuit) then you need to store these in the refrigerator! Either way, it wouldn’t hurt to put them in the fridge to store them.

2.) Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cinnamon Dog Treat Recipe
Prep Time = 15 minutes, Cook Time = 30 minutes, Total Time = 35 minutes
What better than a combination of pumpkin and peanut butter. It’s a known fact that most dogs love peanut butter, so why not throw it into your pumpkin dog treat recipe.
Adding peanut butter only makes things better. Here are our favorite pumpkin peanut butter dog treats.
Ingredients (for ~25 treats)
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup canned pumpkin
- 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Quick Instructions
Heat oven to 350F. Combine all the ingredients to make your dry, crumbly dough. Add water to moisten, only a tablespoon at a time until you have a dry, thick consistency. Roll out dough to ½ inch of thickness. Then cut out your treats into the shapes you want. Throw them in the oven for 35 minutes, remove them, then let them sit to cool before giving them to your dog.
Detailed Instructions
Step #1 – Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Step #2 – In a large bowl, mix together eggs, cinnamon, pumpkin, flour, salt and peanut butter. This mixture will become stiff, dry and crumbly when mixing.
Step #3 – Add a little bit of water to help moisten the ingredients, then you will be able to work and knead the dough. Only add a tablespoon or so as you go. You want the dough to end up dry and thick.
Step #4 – Flour your countertop and roll the dough out to be about ½ inch thick. Use your cookie cutters (or hands) to cut out treats and place on a greased baking sheet. They don’t rise and spread much so you can place them pretty close together.
Step #5 – Any leftover dough after cutting out the first batch of treats can be used to make even more! Just grab it and throw it into a ball and repeat the steps.
Step #6 – Bake for about 35 minutes or until hard. Leave to cool off and then serve to your fur-baby!
